Disco Ball, 9:00 pm
This Saturday night I’ll be appearing with Thelma Houston, Bonnie Pointer, the Trammps among others at the Disco Ball at the Resorts World Casino in New York City which will be hosted by Joe Causi. I always enjoy taking part in these shows. It gives me the chance to revisit the great music I was privileged to make with some remarkable people and to meet some of the people who listened to my music. My friend, singer Tim Dillinger, will be doing the duet with me, “Yes, I’m Ready,” and I’ll be singing “The Stuff Dreams are Made Of” and “Ain’t Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You.” I’m looking forward to this event.
The Christian Community, Los Angeles, Nov. 2, 2014
Last Sunday I gave a short workshop on contemplative singing. During a service, people usually pick up the hymnal or print out, or look up into a screen and just start singing without really understanding what they are contributing to a ritual: the flow and depth of worship. We explored singing in such a way that we began to see the beauty and power in the way a hymn lyric is composed, how a musical line falls or rises, and also what happens in us and around us when we begin to truly enter into a text and melody with awe and reverence, trusting and recognizing divine revelation in our own voices and the voices of those around us, opening ourselves to the experience of deep community and communion.
Unity on the Bay, Miami, Oct. 12, 2014
I had the privilege of singing in two services on Sunday morning with the Unity on the Bay Choir. Reverend Chris Jackson gave a moving sermon on Giving. I always enjoy being in this congregation. It is an enthusiastic, very alive community. Here is a snippet of “Every Moment” that Alina de la Paz shot from the congregation. Thank you Alina. Thanks to everyone, especially Dan Geary, Dale Stine, and the Unity on the Bay choir. Until we meet again, blessings!
Sunsrise School, Miami, October 7-9
I am as passionate about teaching as I am performing. I’ve been teaching for many years and my students and clients are my constant inspiration
I am a strong believer in Waldorf Education, a wholistic approach to education, one that develops and balance all aspects of the student: intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual. I visited this wonderful school 2 days and had the opportunity to sing with the teachers, students and parents. I was happy to be able to be among this vibrant Waldorf community and look forward to returning in January 2015.
